About Us
Welcome!
We are a regional alpaca group for alpaca owners in both South Wales and the population further away. Our aim as a group is to provide support for new and existing alpaca owners. We run the regional group with the full support of the BAS (British Alpaca Society).
Our Members

SWRAG members are primarily based in South Wales, ranging from Aberystwyth in the West, up to Welshpool in the North, across East to Knighton and down to Cardiff in the South and everywhere in between! But don’t be dismayed if you are not in South Wales itself, as we have members as far afield as Liverpool & Nottingham and because many of the events are virtual, they are accessible for all!

Meet the Committee
The group is run by a voluntary committee who are all self confessed alpaca enthusiasts and are always keen to share their knowledge and expertise with the group and their peers.

George Morgan
SWRAG Co-Chair
We are Usk Valley Alpacas, running a herd in Monmouthshire, South Wales of just under 200 head currently. We focus our breeding decisions primarily on grey and black huacayas, but have all other colours, and suris too!! We have a successful show record, and I am also working my way through the BAS Judges Training program. We breed alpacas with great fleeces, temperaments and good health. I am always happy to be at the end of the phone, or give hands on advice both on my farm, or yours.

Angie Adkins
Membership Secretary
Myself and my husband moved to mid Wales in 2023 for a better way of life. Our smallholding is in the Cambrian Mountains with spectacular views. We started our own alpaca herd, Ystwyth Alpacas, in 2025 with 6 females and are expanding quickly! I am looking forward to learning even more about alpacas whilst supporting the membership process for SWRAG and being part of a great alpaca community.

Joint Welfare Coordinator
We are Lynne & Keith Harris, from Puzzletree Alpacas. Like most people we got into alpacas, not as a planned business, but just to have them in the field next to the house as we thought they looked cute. In my naivety I thought they would be like having a few Shetland ponies to look after! We now have a herd of approximately 60 which are used mainly for breeding with our main colour being black. Our farm is about 10 minutes off the M4 at Newport but we have the ideal location which is at the top of Mynyddislwyn Mountain, beautiful views of the Brecon Beacons. Alpacas have brought us so much pleasure with every day bringing new challenges, tears, smiles & laughter.

Joint Content Coordinator
Artemis Alpacas are situated in Halewood, Liverpool. We started with 5 pregnant females in 2017 and now have a herd of 22 (14 girls and 8 boys). Passionate about a holistic approach to managing and handling, we use Camelidynamics and T- touch in our approach. Currently busy with the social side of the world of alpacas with meet and greet sessions, walking experiences and onsite weddings. We are developing our therapeutic services, supporting SEND and visitors from vulnerable groups. We are inspired by how the alpacas relate and support individuals who meet them. Excited to be giving back to SWRAG, which I have enjoyed being part of, meeting like minded friends and increasing my alpaca knowledge & confidence!
