Each Regional Alpaca Group has a Welfare Coordinator; Edith & Lynne Harris are the Joint Welfare Coordinators for SWRAG. Contact Edith & Lynne via email on welfare@swrag.org who will be in touch with you as soon as possible. If your email is about a welfare case our Welfare Coordinators, Edith & Lynne, will be in touch as soon as possible.

Welfare Coordinators help in any way they can with any welfare concerns you are aware of, or have seen. They treat each case with sensitivity and on an individual basis and do whatever they can to help the owners and the alpacas.

Welfare is, we believe, a real passion for most alpaca owners and it is certainly at the heart of our intentions as a group.

The British Alpaca Society coordinate the steady flow of welfare enquiries that they get themselves, using the regional groups and are fully supportive of the regional group’s own welfare efforts. Though neither the BAS nor the regional group have any specific powers legal or otherwise, they do whatever is within their ability, wherever possible.

Most welfare issues seem to be a result of lack of knowledge and can therefore be resolved through education and support, but occasionally encouraging rehoming is also required.

Do let people know that we are here to help, wherever we can and to contact Edith & Lynne via email on welfare@swrag.org if you have any questions or concerns.
